Character Name: Majima Goro (or Goro Majima if you're going by English order?? I don't know the standard anymore)
Canon: Yakuza
Canon Information: link
Canon Point: after the events of Yakuza 0, but before the epilogue
Age: 24
God Houses: Heimdall: Majima is loyal to people who have earned his trust, and will do anything to pay it back, not caring if it's to a fault.
Tyr: Majima has built himself into a master of customer service, and that means he can make people feel great while taking their money.
Personality: All appearances point to Majima being a violent thug, but anyone who takes the time to talk to him will find that there's a multi-layered personality tucked beneath his tough guy exterior. Being forced into customer service for the past few years has led Majima to create a much more pragmatic side of himself. When acting as a club manager, he exercises his criminal cunning in getting profits, and he's since been able to adapt these skills outside of work. He's good at reading people and telling them what they want to hear if it will get him what he needs more quickly, whether it be money or information. He can schmooze with the best of them, and become polite and placating at the drop of a hat. It actually leads to him being a very effective boss. He works earnestly with his employees to get the best performance possible from them, and does whatever he can to make them feel just as valued and comfortable as his customers.
However, Majima prefers doing things the way he learned on the street, and will typically revert to this when he doesn't have to keep up appearances in a management setting. His manner of speaking is blunt, sometimes crass, but it comes from a place of honesty, not malice. Majima hates to beat around the bush, and finds it much easier to put everything out in the open so he can get to the heart of whatever people want him to deal with. When he isn't people pleasing, Majima wears his heart on his sleeve, regardless of how often that gets him in trouble. In an underground world of criminals who only care about themselves, Majima stands out by looking out for the little guy, and having the brutish strength to back up such an uncommon philosophy. He highly values power in order to gain respect, but tends to use it in a relatively unselfish way. Whether he's regularly beating up muggers or saving his object of unrequited love from a ridiculously convoluted real estate fraud scheme, Majima does what he can to keep the weak from suffering.
Majima gained his strength, though, from ruthless experience in coming up young in the yakuza world. His manic temper and sense of justice got him into plenty of fights, which helped him foster a love of violence when used for appropriate ends. Simply stated, Majima loves fighting, more than almost anything else in life. If the opportunity arises for him to show off his strength, especially against someone on his level, he throws all of himself into it with reckless aplomb, and easily gets in way over his head. It helps him release his aggression, but gets him plenty of injuries and enemies.
People who can defeat Majima almost all earn his respect. With that respect comes loyalty, and if Majima feels loyal or beholden to anyone, he will fight to uphold that with his life. This isn't limited to the physically strong; any of Majima's friends or people he cares for also fall under his protective umbrella. He will fight, lie, steal, or even die for someone he considers worth the effort. He may even think about killing for them, though as of yet he's always been talked down from going that far. When Majima cares about someone, he may hide it, but he cares so fiercely that it might endanger him.
That being said, as someone who regularly considers himself to be bound by oaths and duty, Majima possesses a free spirited nature that he's only just started to indulge in. He's spent years living on other people's terms, and once he's released from the responsibility of keeping up tidy appearances and being restricted to one neighborhood in all of Japan, he's ready to try his hand at living for himself. Defiance got him into trouble in the first place, but even more flagrant defiance in the name of seeking his own justice freed him all over again. He won't let anyone cage him again.
