[Majima had hoped to surprise a newbie with the fact that dragons exist, but her reply wipes the anticipatory smirk right off his face.]
Man, do I come from the only place without all this fantasy shit? [He frowns and tries to think of a way to explain.] Just means we can make boats move fast on their own. And keep rooms cold when it's hot outside.
[Which they probably solve with ice potions or something. Majima gave up thinking anything was beyond the realm of possibility months ago. He sighs and keeps rowing, glaring at a strange peacock-like bird eying them from a branch overhead.]
I serve drinks so maybe they think I'm handsome by the time I'm kickin' 'em out the door. Don't own the place, though. But there's more interesting things you can do than that.
[She can't help but be amused at his disappointment. He was trying to show off then? How cute.]
Well, they weren't glorified enough to be kept as pets or caged animals where I come from, so that's new. [More likely they'd just murder anyone who got too close.] I'm used to a nice strong sea breeze pushing forward the sails of my ship forward, and warm heat of the fire in fireplaces to keep things warm. You had things to make that easier? Did our kind benefactors let you bring them with you?
[She jokes mostly, there's no way the Natha would ever be so kind. She worries less about hot climate anyways because well. Just look at her lack of pants, heat's got nothing on her. ]
If it takes a drink for them to appreciate your looks then they were a lost cause to begin with. If your bar is where we're headed I might have to stop by sometime and see your talent for myself. [Because the possibility of a good drink after all this? Consider her sold.] You've got my attention at interesting though, what else can you do then?
Yeah, right. I'm surprised I even kept my knife from home.
[If he's noticed anything about Isabela's outfit, he doesn't show it. Working in a red light district back home got him used to a lot of unusual fashion.
That doesn't mean, of course, that he hasn't noticed. It's part of the reason that despite his smooth dodging of her flattery, he knows the humidity and exertion aren't the only thing causing his current flush.]
I live in Olympia, but was stayin' in Wyver last month. Had to help wrangle a couple dragons back to their stables, so if you can run fast, you might make some money that way.
There's a bit of kindness to them then perhaps? They let me keep mine too, and they're much larger than your average knife. Maybe they trust us to behave with our sharp and shiny toys. [Though arguably questionable in her case, but he definitely doesn't look the part of an upstanding model citizen either in her eyes.]
Oh I can be good at running, but I prefer to get physical in other ways. [That one was too easy, and she snorts while laughing. Just joking.] Got any other recommendations? Figure I ought to be aware of what's around that'll help fund my love of drink and debauchery while also keeping my pockets full.
[His tanto blade probably doesn't qualify for small, but he doesn't show it off just yet. Majima frowns thoughtfully and leans on his oar as they hit a current. It's barely faster than rowing, but he doesn't mind the break.]
Still haven't figured the Natha out. They gotta mean well to save so many people, but they ain't as hands off as I thought gods were supposed to be.
[That has perks, but he's habitually quicker to think of the drawbacks. He grins, though, at the mention of physicality.]
You mean like fightin'? [Of course she doesn't, but he can work with either. From the looks of her, she can handle herself-- Majima has gotten more than used to finding women like that on Nysa.] Dunno a whole lot about sailin', There's an underground club for fights outside Olympia. Good for side money, if ya like high stakes.
If I've learned anything from religious groups they never are, though I'm used to their followers being too involved instead of the gods themselves. At least we're still here at all, and we can keep an eye on them if they start to do anything that's worth worrying about.
[She thinks back to the Chantry, and the various lectures of her lifestyle of choice 'turning her away from the Maker's light'. At least these gods just get too hands on as far as she's aware, she'll take that over a lecture any day.]
Sometimes it shakes out that way. I can hold my own in a good brawl or two, especially if there's money on the line. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, especially if the stakes are worth gambling for. Although...a nice no holds barred wrestling match is good too though, you can have those anywhere. [On the beach, below deck, in the sheets...the possibilities are endless. She grins knowingly at him though.] In all seriousness though, I'm used to more independent work, the kinds those of the law don't always like. You know, like smuggling goods, going out to seek expensive treasures, other things of the sort. I also had my ship for all of that though, so I'm not against being a team player if I have to be.
We had cults like that pop up from time to time. No one took 'em too seriously, though.
[Nevermind that he broke one up back at home, but that's not the best story to tell when giving a first impression. Majima listens to Isabela, a bit shocked about how open she is about her criminal activity. Fortunately for her, he's the last person who can judge, nor does he particularly want to, with a rap sheet like that. For Majima, it's impressive.]
So you're a legit pirate? Thought you were messin' around.
If only that had been the case where I came from. I think it would have made things far less complicated for everyone.
[A period without mages being held or treated unfairly and templars being off their high horses for once sounds like a dream honestly. Its one of many reasons why she never bothered with any sort of religion, it often reached obsessive levels bordering on creepy to her depending on the person.
She does laugh a little at his surprise. It's the lack of pants and her hat she figures, though she wouldn't mind a nice feathered hat atop her head again. Ah, nostalgia.]
Hopefully my lack of a claw or a wooden leg doesn't disappoint you too much. I am, well was a captain for years. Had my own ship too, and just in case you ask I didn't have a parrot either. It would have made far too much noise for my liking.
Like it do you? Keeps my hair from getting in the way when there's bad headwinds about. Not as flashy as a tricorn or as good looking like your eyepatch but it's practical.
[She muses on the idea of having a bird with a thoughtful hum. Was there a good reason for one? Wait, they could repeat what people say right, so that means-]
Well...having one around to say all the innuendos and swears I think of would be fun, but I just know the moment I take someone to bed it'll never stop saying everything I taught it. [And just imagining the embarrassment from that and how she'd never get to live that down is embarrassing enough in and of itself.] I think if I did ever get a pet I'd want something quieter, or at least easy to manage.

Parrots are cool, though. You can make 'em do stupid shit like announce your presence. Curse at people.
